Cullen and Durant meet with President Grant to discuss the future of the railroad; The Swede puts his plan against the Mormons in action.

RodRod Lurie http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0527109/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm

Talented film critic-turned-director who burst onto the scene in late 2000 with his hotly debated political thriller The Contender (2000). That film launched Lurie into the spot of filmmakers-to-watch and stood out amongst a year’s worth of mindless and politically empty films. Born in Israel, Lurie spent his childhood living in Connecticut and Hawaii.

At age 18 he began attending the highly prestigious U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Upon graduation in 1984, he spent 4 years serving in the army, which took him to various cities in the U.S. and Europe. While serving in the Army, he worked part-time as freelance entertainment journalist, writing film reviews for small newspapers. After serving 4 of the 5 years of his obligation to the Army, he became a full-time film critic. He was soon writing reviews for Los Angeles Magazine and doing spots on KABC Talk Radio. Unfortunately, Lurie’s sensationalist and highly informal style of film criticism made him one of the most hated film critics in the country. He found himself banned from many traditional critics’ screenings of films. In the mid-90’s, Lurie decided to make a career transition towards filmmaking.

A self-confessed political junkie, Lurie channeled his interests and vast knowledge of filmmaking into the 1998 short film 4 Second Delay (1998). Lurie combined the still-unanswered questions of Watergate and his talk radio day job into a tense, half-hour thriller. The film won the Jury Special Prize at the Deauville Film Festival, and served as Lurie’s calling card, as he prepared to make his first feature-length film. He ventured into politics for his feature-length debut, Deterrence (1999). The plot concerned an incumbent U.S. rodluriePresident, and an intense military situation that arises while he is stranded in a snow-covered diner. Filmed on one set and starring Kevin Pollak as the President, the film garnered Lurie even more recognition, even if it received drastically mixed reviews. It was while presenting his favorite actress Joan Allen with an Achievement Award that Lurie conceived The Contender (2000).

After finishing the script, Lurie assembled an all-star cast of acting greats (including Gary Oldman and Jeff Bridges) and some exemplary camera techniques into a political masterpiece. The film, about a female Vice Presidential nominee who is struck with sexual allegations, the film blurred the lines of good and evil and showed how “Principles only mean something if you stand by them when you’re inconvenienced.” Arguably the most widely debated 2000 film next to Traffic (2000), the film garnered two Oscar nominations and won the prestigious Alan J. Pakula Award. By the time the 2001 Oscars rolled around, Lurie was already hard at work at his next film, working with his acting hero Robert Redford.

The result was the 2001 action/drama The Last Castle (2001). It centered on an imprisoned military general, forced to go up against a tyrannical prison warden. Despite some favorable reviews, the film was a commercial failure. Not to be deterred, the prolific Lurie has kept himself busy. While working on the script for another prison drama, _Clink Inc. (2001)_, Lurie wrote and directed the short film, The Nazi (2002), starring James Cromwell. The film was screened at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival. While Lurie plots his next move, he is no doubt one of the more talented filmmakers to emerge at the turn of the 21st Century.

Neil LaBute

Acclaimed and highly discussed filmmaker Neil LaBute has made himself a force to be reckoned with and a name to watch. With his true-to-life cynical and self-absorbed characters and all-too-true social themes, he has firmly established himself as an unforgiving judge of the ugliest side of human nature.

LaBute was originally a playwright. He attended Brigham Young University and took theater as his major. Many say that Pulitzer-Prize winner David Mamet was a strong influence on him. He chose to attack subjects that many don’t really want to talk about and showed the way that people really talk amongst themselves. His piece entitled “Filthy Talk for Troubled Times” featured two guys just sitting around and making small talk and ridiculing homosexuals and their ways, in a manner not unlike the conversations in his In the Company of Men (1997). The play was not, unsurprisingly, a hit with the critics.

73 Dohn Norwood who plays PsalmsGuest: Dohn Norwood @dohn_n who plays Psalms https://twitter.com/dohn_n http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1382564/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm

Morehouse alumni and Indianapolis native, Dohn Norwood is making a name for himself in the Hollywood scene. His film and television credits include: Bruce Almighty (starring Jim Carry), Mini’s First Time (starring Alec Baldwin and Carry Anne Moss), Castle, Entourage, Without a Trace, ER, Bones, and The Closer. Dohn’s background is highlighted by both his well traveled and well trained skills. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, Dohn went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego (one of the three most prominent schools for performing arts training in the United States). While at U.C.S.D., Dohn traveled to Dakar, Senegal in West Africa where he performed a one-man show centered on his childhood while growing up on Indianapolis’ Westside. The show received rave reviews from a variety of foreign critics including those from Spain, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, and several West African countries.

At the conclusion of Norwood’s stay at U.C.S.D., he moved on to Los Angeles, California where he currently resides. His first introduction to LA’s performing arts world was as the role of Romeo in the Ahmanson Theatre’s production of Romeo & Juliet directed by Sir Peter Hall of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001. Dohn has been involved in theatre and performance since the fourth grade when he took part in an after school drama club program while attending Indianapolis Public School No. 2 in downtown Indianapolis. He went on to be part of the performing arts magnet at both Shortridge Junior High School and Broad Ripple High School.hell-on-wheels-episode-505-psalms-norwood-935

Acting is not the only career Dohn is establishing in Los Angeles. As a product of not only acting programs but many after school outreach organizations such as Indiana University’s Upward Bound program (as a student) and later as a Tutor/Counselor and Drama instructor for Morehouse College’s Upward Bound Program as well, it is no surprise Dohn’s life has expanded to include philanthropy. Dohn not only serves as Vice President but as an instructor for The T.Y.M.E. Foundation/Boys to Men Enrichment Program centered in South Los Angeles. The T.Y.M.E. Foundation is a non-profit organization based on the principle of teaching young men excellence. “Boys to Men” is The T.Y.M.E. Foundation’s youth outreach program which focuses on principles of scholastic achievement, leadership, and community service.

Having established a diverse resume which includes stage, television, film, and commercials, Dohn now faces a strong future in the film and television world. Upcoming projects to watch for include Castle, Doing the L.A. Thing, and 15 Minutes of Fame.
